Open Hands
Humanity at Heart has been supporting Open Hands’ work for almost 10 years. Working closely with Rebekka, the CEO of Open Hands, we are able to offer targeted help where it is most needed.Open Hands is a community project, helping disadvantaged and vulnerable Roma children and their families, in the North West of Romania.
The 2 areas of focus are the Rainbow House and Lighthouse projects, for which we provide running costs.
Rainbow House
The Rainbow House is a day centre, where pre-school children can come and get a hot meal, learn basic skills, and can play in a safe environment. Through an outreach program, help can be given to their families, who live in very challenging conditions.
More recently, with our help, support has been widened to teens living in the same area.
Lighthouse
The Lighthouse has a specific educational focus, providing after school support and teaching.
It welcomes children from very disadvantaged backgrounds and supports them in their education so that they can succeed at school and have a future.
