LIke everyone, we have been appalled at the humanitarian crisis unfolding in Ukraine, and have been looking at ways in which we can help. We know that the main border crossings are through Poland and Romania, so we were keen to help our Romanian friends in their response to the crisis.
Volunteers and team members from our partners at Open Hands are directly helping the traumatised refugees pouring out of Ukraine and into Romania at the Siret border. The Romanian people and Government are doing everything to welcome and help their neighbours!
Part of our response to the Ukraine crisis is to provide extra funds to Open Hands so it can continue its vital work at the border. The situation is changing every day, and as time goes on, Open Hands will look at helping in a more long term way. For now, we are ensuring they can continue to give aid and support.
